About
Liam Thomas
Founder of Transcendental Transcriptions
Liam Thomas is a composer, guitarist, and pianist born in Wilmington, Delaware. In the Greater Philadelphia area, he has written, performed, and studied music for the better part of the last decade and is a graduate of the Master of Music program at West Chester University of Pennsylvania with a focus in composition. He has performed many different genres of music such as classical, jazz, rock, and funk, all of which he has experience composing in. He currently is focusing his creative output on his original hard rock and heavy metal outfit known as Obsolescence. His music features an ambient timbre with a focus on lush harmonies. His collection of works and songs reflects his diversity in style today.
His interest in composition emerged during his formative years, sparked by studies in music history that exposed him to the works of classical composers. This spurred his desire to create music just as they did, leading to his enrollment in the Music Theory & Composition program at West Chester University. Here, Liam studied for 6 years, acquiring both a Bachelor's, and Master's degree in Music Composition. Here, he learned to write for ensembles of different sizes, including choirs and concert band instrumentations seen in educational programs.
With his experience in sheet music publishing, composition, audio engineering, and performance, Liam founded Transcendental Transcriptions where he publishes music and provides music services. These services include transcribing, composing music for commissions, mixing & mastering, and creating demos for traditionally composed works.
